CY: Edrycha fy ngwaith ymchwil ar ynganiad ymhlith dysgwyr y Gymraeg gan ganolbwyntio ar nodweddion uwchsegmentaidd, h.y. elfennau ieithyddol sydd uwchben lefel seiniau penodol. Canolbwyntiaf yn benodol ar bwyslais a phatrymau goslefol. Cymhara’r prosiect ddysgwyr o ddwy wahanol ardal yn ne Cymru sydd â gwahanol broffiliau ieithyddol o ran defnydd y Gymraeg. Defnyddia’r gwaith ddulliau acwstig er mwyn  archwilio sut y mae dysgwyr sydd yn siarad gwahanol fathau o Saesneg Cymreig yn gosod pwyslais ar sillafau a’u patrymau goslefol. Cymherir dysgwyr o Gymru â siaradwyr rhugl o’r un ardal yn ogystal â dysgwyr sydd yn dod o tu allan i Gymru.

EN: My research looks at pronunciation in Adult Learners of Welsh focusing on the realisation of suprasegmental aspects of speech, i.e. those aspects of language above the level of individual sounds. I am focusing in particular on stress and intonation in the speech of learners. The project compares learners from two areas of south Wales with contrasting community Welsh language usage. The project uses acoustic methods to examine how learners of Welsh varieties of English produce stress and intonation patterns in Welsh by comparing their speech to local fluent speakers and learners from outside these learners ‘ communities.

My research is funded and supported by the South, West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership (Arts and Humanities Research Council).
